Sicilian Whole Orange Cake 西西里香橙蛋糕

You did not read it wrong, this recipe ask for a whole orange, with rind! I was a bit skeptical but after I made it, it is one of the most delicious, full of flavours cakes! Texture is not on the light and fluffy side, but rich and slightly denser, like a pound cake.

It is so easy to make, what you need is a blender or food processor to blend everything. Then you will have a lovely batter. How simple is that?! It is perfect for summer, for a party or just little treat for yourself and families.

Wash and cut the orange into small pieces. Then put orange pieces in blender and process till pureed.

Then add in the rest of the ingredients, blend until smooth.

Pour the batter into lined baking tin, pop in preheated oven at 180C, bake for about 50-60 minutes or until is fully cooked.

For the orange syrup, add around 100ml orange juice and sugar in a saucepan. Cook until sugar dissolved, then simmer for about 10 minutes.

Let the cake cool for 15 minutes, then remove from tin. While the cake is still warm, brush the syrup on the cake. Then let it cool completely. Enjoy!

將橙洗淨,切小塊 (中心要切除)。將橙放入攪拌機內打成蓉。

再加入所有蛋糕的材料,打均。

將蛋糕糊倒入鋪有烘焙紙的蛋糕模內。放入已預熱180C 焗爐,焗約50-60分鐘。

煮香橙糖漿:將橙汁和糖放入煲內,煮至糖溶化,然後轉小火煮10分鐘。

讓蛋糕待涼15分鐘後才脫模。蛋糕還暖時在上面塗滿香橙糖漿,再將蛋糕完全待涼後才享用。

  • 1 Orange (around 300g) 橙
  • 230 g Sugar 糖
  • 180 g Butter 牛油
  • 270 g Plain Flour 中筋麵粉
  • 12 g Baking Powder 泡打粉
  • 3 Eggs 雞蛋
Orange Glaze
  • 100 ml Orange Juice 橙汁
  • 50 g Sugar 糖
