French Onion Soup 法式洋蔥湯
Very classic French onion soup, it sounds fancy in restaurants but it is very easy to make at home. After cooking, the onion are actually very sweet, with the bread and cheese…mmm..it is really one of the best comfort food in winter.
The most critical part, of course is to cook the onion, it might takes tons of patience but trust me, everything is worth it at the end. Perfect for winter night dinner or wow your guest! Enjoy!
Hong Kong Style Fish Shumai (siu mai) 港式魚肉燒賣
When talk about Cantonese Dim Sum, I am sure you have tried Shumai (siu mai). The small yellow wrapper with pork and shrimps. So Yummy!
However, this fish siu mai is different, it wrapped with fish (of course!) It is one of the most popular Hong Kong street food. In UK, I can’t find fish siu mai, so I better make it myself. You can choose whatever fish you like, I am lazy, so I used the frozen fish fillet. They are so easy to make and it taste just like like Hong Kong!
Healthy Quinoa Salad 藜麥沙律
Even winter is here, but salad is still a good, healthy choice for simple lunch / dinner! This quinoa salad is my favourite! I love add quinoa in salad, or mix with other grain, make some patties or in baking. They are superfood and you know they are good for you!
This salad is refreshing, light but can fill you up. You only need some simple dressing for this recipe and already very yummy!
Non-Spicy Mapo Tofu 不辣麻婆豆腐
Mapo Tofu, one of the most favourite dish in Chinese restaurants. Spicy and delicious, perfect to serve with rice (or noodles as well! ).
How about the non-spicy one? The ingredients are very similar : tofu and minced meat. I love to add mushrooms as well. Very easy and simple, it takes only 15 minutes! Perfect quick, easy weekday dinner!
Doughnut Muffins 冬甩鬆餅
Baking time! I don’t really like to make doughnut at home, cause frying stuff, no so healthy blablablablah. But I really like these doughnut muffins, they are kind of like jam doughnut yet taste like muffins. Doughnut + muffin, great combination.
They are so easy to make and no electric mixer needed. Simply mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients, bake! Enjoy!
Hibiscus Jerry 洛神花啫喱
Hibiscus season is here! But I can’t buy the fresh hibiscus where I live, so I used dried hibiscus instead. Actually they are as good as the fresh one, and easier to keep it for longer time.
Hibiscus has many benefit, sour and taste refreshing. Beside making a drink, I love to make dessert with it. This time, I make very simple broken glass jelly, not with many different colour but just with hibiscus. They look so pretty and super yummy! Hope you like it too!
Mango Pomelo Sago Pudding 楊枝甘露
Very popular Hong Kong dessert – Mango Pomelo Sago Pudding, I am not sure if it called pudding, as it is not pudding, but it also thicker than soup…anyway, it is a very delicious dessert.
It made of mango puree, coconut cream, evaporated milk (that you can use milk instead, but it tastes different) and then add some mango chunks and pomelo. It is kind of healthy dessert, and super easy to make. Try and hope you will love it!
